| Summery: | Access to Quality SRH Youth Friendly Services in Palestine PFPPA /Youth Friendly Services Outline Introduction Target Group Project locations Project Duration Goal and Objectives Project activities Introduction Resulting to a rapid needs assessment and baseline survey conducted by the Palestinian MA, youth recommended to focus on: offering a range of quality services to youth in all PFPPA SDPs so that young people will be able to address multiple SRH needs in one place including counseling and hotlines, forming guidelines for YFS and clear referral to clinics, delivering correct and relevant information in the manner conductive to the local cultural and religious norms , targeting youth gatekeepers such as parents, teachers and community leaders. IEC materials on adolescent SRH issues should be available at the SDPs to complement SRH services, effectively attract young people and train them on peer education and focus on the capacity building of the health providers. Additionally, young people emphasized that they should be involved in all YFS planning, implementation and evaluation. Furthermore, they highly recommend targeting marginalized groups such as young girls, disabled, refugees and young people in rural areas and Jerusalem At the same time, young people strongly believe that solid partnership between youth organization is the key of success to any initiative targeting youth . Project's Locations Hebron Halhoul Bethlehem Gaza Jerusalem Goals To contribute to the overall improvement of adolescent sexual and reproductive health in the oPt. Objectives 1. To increase accessibility and capability of 20,000 young people (from both sexes) aged (15-25) years to a broad range of quality YFS, education and decision-making in Gaza, Jerusalem, Hebron and Bethlehem districts within two years. 2- To reduce community barriers towards gender equality and ASRH&R among 5000 youth parents, teachers, community leaders and NGOs representatives in Gaza, Jerusalem, Hebron and Bethlehem districts within two years. Salin Plus Project Activities Equip 4 Youth Friendly Services centers and one training center. Recruit Project Staff. Community leaders. Activities implemented Staff team has been recruited (13 employees). One project staff meeting has been held. Four YFS centers and one training center have been equipped with necessary equipment and furniture. Direct running costs of the YFS centers have been covered since July 1st, 2009. A free hotline has been established and operated for the general public. Advertisements of the hotline has been announced for in the local newspapers. An announcement for the baseline survey researcher has been placed in the local Palestinian newspaper. Preparations for meetings with youth gatekeepers committees has begun. Articles, reports and pictures have been collected in preparation of the electronic newsletter. Meetings have been conducted with local organizations and institutions in aim to establish a supportive coalition. Meetings have been conducted with youth gate keepers and youth centers in addition to an advertisement has been announced in the local newspaper announcing the opportunity to apply for committee membership. Preparations have been made to conduct training sessions for volunteers and staff. An announcement has been prepared to be announced in the local newspaper requesting names and details of qualified trainers and consultants to be used as a database for the Training Center. It has been arranged that youth are to be given training on Health and SRH topics in the training center. |
